Sunday evening, Hermandad de SIA, Alpha Kappa Alpha, and Kappa Delta sororities came together to present The pearls and roses tea party. The event brought out elegant outfits, food, tea and members of the Albion College community looking to learn from and empower each other.

The tea party featured three speakers: Elizabeth Williamson, Vivian Davis and Angelita Valdez.

Williamson shared a story about her battle with public breastfeeding in her occupation earlier on in her life.

“You don’t have to do something revolutionary in order to empower women,” Williamson said.

Adrianna Viscomi, sophomore and member of the Kappa Delta sorority, said the event was intended to offer a space to students and community members to raise awareness about women’s empowerment.

Hollie Ballentine, a junior and member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, said the event was well-received.

“I am actually very excited about the turnout,” Balentine said. “I’ve been walking around and talking to those at the tables I’ve received great feedback about the event itself, I’m very excited to do it again next year.”
