PizzaForno, the 24-hour per day, seven-day per week pizza vending machine, was recently established in Jackson. This automated pizza oven is the first of its kind in the United States.

PizzaForno launched in Toronto in January 2019 with a system that uses French pizza oven technology to create a variety of freshly baked artisanal pizza in only three minutes.

Owner Les Tomlin said the reason Jackson was chosen as the first U.S. location was because of two innovative minds.

“Two fantastic entrepreneurs from Jackson saw a PizzaForno location in Toronto in late 2019, and we began planning our U.S. launch with them [becoming] our first PizzaForno U.S. Licensees,” said Tomlin.

According to Tomlin, the launch has exceeded expectations, selling out multiple times.

“It has been fantastic to see the local community embrace the new technology and the delicious, artisanal pizza that it bakes,” said Tomlin.

The company plans to begin launching additional PizzaFornos across the U.S. throughout 2021.

Grace Forster, a senior from Holland, said that while the pizza vending machine is definitely intriguing, she thinks that it presents some unique perspectives on modern-day problems.

“It’s an interesting concept for sure,” Forster said. “However, I do not appreciate the loss of potential employment from somebody in the community.”

On the other hand, Austin Raymond, a first-year from Clare, said he thinks the pizza vending machine is a great way for people to get a fresh meal at any time of the day.

“I believe this pizza machine is revolutionary,” said Raymond. “Coming from a person who probably eats pizza five to six days out of the week, this is honestly so exciting and it just shows how far society has come along in terms of advancing technology.”

To encourage Albion College students and stakeholders to check out the latest in Pizza creation, the company has issued a coupon code to be used on any pizza for $3 off. The code is 0611 and valid until June 20.
