Season Two, Episode One: Alpha Kappa Alpha and MLK

Since fall 2020, The Brit has been showcasing student voices and views to the Albion College community (Image by Morgan Derose and Caitlyn-Rae Arendse).

The Brit is a podcast that Morgan DeRose, a junior from Whitehall, and Caitlyn-Rae Arendse, a junior from Columbus, Ohio, spent this past summer working to create.  Episodes of The Brit air every other Monday.

Season Two, Episode One: Alpha Kappa Alpha and MLK

In this first Brit episode of 2021, Brit hosts DeRose  and Arendse begin by speaking with two women from Albion College’s Alpha Kappa Alpha chapter, Layla Wilks, a senior from Chicago, and Lucretia Woods, a senior from Chicago. 

DeRose and Arendse go on to  speak with Eryn Lewis, a sophomore from Albion , alongside special co-host and the Albion Pleiad’s features editor Aura Ware, about the college’s most recent MLK series and Lewis’ response to the different events in the series. 

Goals of this episode

While speaking with Alpha Kappa Alpha members Wilks and Woods, DeRose and Arendse work to  learn about the different ideas, goals and plans of Albion’s Alpha Kappa Alpha chapter. Wilks and Woods teach us about their sorority’s values, community service work,  aspirations for their recruitment and their future goals.

In having a conversation with Lewis about the MLK series, DeRose and Arendse strive to acquire more information about the happenings of the MLK series that was recently sponsored by the college.
