The Campus Post Office is one of the first places new students find at Albion College. Located on the first floor of the KC, students use it to pick up mail, send mail or buy stamps during the school week. The Campus Post Office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Michelle Garret, a mail clerk, has been managing the mail at the Campus Post Office for the past 23 years.
“I was looking for a part time job when my oldest was in preschool, and never left,” said Garrett.
After 23 years, Garrett has seen some interesting things come through the mail.
‘’We’ve gotten a piece of grass, a piece of sod,” said Garrett. “A fraternity member was potty training a puppy, and his mom sent him a piece of sod to be able to potty train the puppy.”
COVID-19 has made changes to everything on and off campus, and the Campus Post Office is no different. Garret said new protocols have been added, and the biggest changes are for students who have tested positive and can’t pick up mail for themselves.
“Distribution wise, for students that are in quarantine, Resife has been coordinating with the resident directors to pick up those students’ mail,” said Garrett.
The Campus Post Office can get crowded throughout the day. Given social distancing protocols, Garrett has a tip for students who don’t like waiting in line and would like to be able to spread out from their peers.
“2:30 to 5 p.m. is when things are getting slower,” said Garrett.
