Albion doesn’t lack a bookstore, a coffee shop, a movie theater or multiple restaurants. This past year we’ve seen the opening of a Taco Bell, advanced planning for the Albion Malleable Brewing Company and a new hotel downtown. Now a new store has made its way here, Label Shopper. On Nov. 1, the clothing store, located in the strip mall with Tractor Supply, officially had its ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The Label Shopper sells clothes from other chain clothing stores that are in overabundance for a discounted price. They sell clothes from major retailers; they even sell leftover stock from stores that have gone out of business.
Store Manager Matt Cowsert started off as a part-time employee at a Label Shopper in Big Rapids, Michigan. Within his years working for the store, he moved up to be assistant manager at a different location, in Owosso, Michigan. After working there for over a year, he was offered a managing position for the new store opening up in Albion.
“It seems that it’s a town that a lot of people are trying to bring prosperity back to,” said Cowsert, as he reflects on his impression of Albion. As the store manager, he hopes to spread word around town about the opening of the Label Shopper to attract in locals.
“We’ve had good business so far, and I believe with the ribbon-cutting it’ll be even better because more people will hear about us,” said Cowsert. “Not only that but with the [Christmas] season coming up, not a lot of [local] people are going to want to necessarily go to Battle Creek or Jackson, … so it’s more convenient for them.”
With new additions and expansions of construction and business continuing in Albion, the Label Shopper is another new feature to help strengthen the town and provide better convenience to the people of Albion.
Label Shopper is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. It is located at 1450 N Eaton St. For questions, call the store’s number at (517)-629-3630.
