Commencement Speaker Announced

Today Robert H. Bartlett was announced as the speaker at the upcoming Commencement Ceremony. Bartlett graduated from Albion College in 1960 before pursuing a career in medicine. After earning his bachelor’s degree, he attended University of Michigan for his medical degree, where he now is Professor Emeritus in the Section of General Surgery, Division of Acute Care Surgery.

His accomplishments include receiving the Medallion of Scientific Achievement from the American Surgical Association. His medical career has especially focused on critical care. He is credited for developing a life-saving treatment, called extracorporeal membrane oxygenation machine, or ECMO, which has saved thousands of lives that were in critical condition due to burns, trauma and lung failure.

This year’s commencement will take place on May 7, 2016.
