Show Your Best – Coming Soon!

Mark your calendars because something new is coming to Albion this year. This Saturday, Oct. 24 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the Chamber of Commerce and City Hall are putting on the first ever community trade show at the Albion Community School called Show Your Best.

This free event allows local businesses and organizations to show off what they can offer the community. Show Your Best also lets community members and college students see what is happening in the Albion area. Sheryl Mitchell, Albion city manager, is excited about the uniqueness this event is bringing to the town – highlighting the best of local businesses to students and citizens.

“There are so many great things going on in Albion,” Mitchell said. “This will be an opportunity for us to showcase all of the people, organizations and activities not only for people around us but in our own community.”

After months of planning, Show Your Best currently has over 50 organizations registered to participate.

Although Mitchell played a large role in planning the event, she received help from Marie Macone, special projects coordinator at city hall. Macone traveled all the way from France for a six-month internship with Mitchell. Her main focus for the past few months has been Show Your Best.

“I am really excited to see the whole community all together sharing this moment,” Macone said.

Each institution at the event will have its own table with information. Some businesses are offering free giveaways that will be raffled off later in the day. The event also includes an awards ceremony, activities for kids and senior citizens and a taste of France with crêpe lunches available for purchase.

Albion’s own President Mauri Ditzler will be making an appearance, presenting the new Albion City sign at 3p.m. “Come see a new sign that will highlight Albion’s very best,” Ditzler said.
