Great pizza for a great cause!
On Oct. 30, between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m., any Gina’s Pizza & Deli purchase will help Albion’s Habitat for Humanity raise money to buy supplies for housing repairs in the Albion community.
“We help the restaurant serve food, and they have agreed to donate 15% of their proceeds during that time towards Habitat for Humanity,” said Alex Schumaker, Clinton Township senior.
Their goal is to raise between $100 and $200.
“It seems to work well for everybody,” said Joe Thomas, Canton senior and Habitat for Humanity president. “We get money for our cause, and we get to support a new local business too.”
Habitat for Humanity organizes groups of students to go out into the Albion community and fix damaged houses and apartments. Currently they are working on repairs for a house on Division Street, behind Wesley Hall.
“As well as some floor and wall repairs, the house needs new windows and also a new furnace and water heater, which I think are perfect targets for our campus chapter to shoot for through our fundraising,” said Thomas.
Habitat for Humanity is always looking for more people to help, either by joining the organization or just helping with house builds and repairs.
“We always love when new students want to join!” said Alyssa Kulczycki, Clinton Township senior. “They can come to as many or as few builds as they want.”
If interested in joining, stop by the meetings on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in KC on the fourth floor, or email Thomas at jgt10@albion.edu for more information.
