Brian Spencer, Jane Finkel and Andrew White, members of Albion’s coed a cappella group, Euphonics, perform at Cascerelli’s every Monday night from 10 p.m. to 12 p.m..
Brian Spencer, Lansing senior and president of Euphonics, had been interested by the idea of the group performing together outside of school for some time. Over the summer, the group continued putting their musical talent to work. Jane Finkel, Mackinaw Island junior, performed on her home island, while Andy White, Jackson senior, performed with Brian several times.
“I wanted to continue doing it because I knew I was going to miss it.”
The group contacted Cascerell’is manager, Jim Cascerelli, to inquire about the possibility of their performing on senior-bar night.
“He thought is was a great idea,” Spencer said. “He thought it would be a good pull.”
The group has developed a wide range of music, with many different instruments.
“We definitely put a folky, modern spin on things,” Finkel said. “I have a mini accordion. I play the ukulele. I just like playing weird instruments.”
The group was inspired by a wide range of musical influences.
“I was in the car with my dad, when ‘Eruption’ by Van Halen came on, and that was the moment I knew I wanted to play guitar,” White said.
Performing together has brought the group closer together.
“I love that we’re spending a lot of time together,” Finkel said. “I love everything we do together.”
