Bouncing Back — Britons look to get back on track after Wednesday’s slip up

After an undefeated weekend, Wednesday did not treat the Albion College Men’s Lacrosse team quite as well.

The Britons faced off against the Adrian College Bulldogs Wednesday, who are currently the top team in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference.  The Bulldogs also received votes to be ranked in the top 20 in the country according to NCAA.com.

The game ended in a 12-0 loss for the Britons.

“We came out a little flat and got down four goals pretty early,” said Jamie Kehoe, Clinton Township junior.  “We didn’t really pick it up until the second half.  We were even in the second half; neither team scored a goal.  We just had a tough time getting anything on offense.”

Albion is not the only team that has not been able to produce against the Bulldogs.  Adrian is 8-1 this year, with their only loss coming to Roanoke, the No. 13 ranked team in the country, according to NCAA.com.

Thursday’s practice was not an easy one for the Britons, but it was a necessary one for them to begin their preparation for Fontbonne University this Saturday.

“At the start of practice today, we went and ran the hill a few times,” said Dan Genord, Ann Arbor junior.  “That sucked pretty bad, but then we ran some 6-v-6 and got some new offense in.”

Genord believes the Britons just need to play their game, not necessarily focus on a particular area, but Kehoe sees the team putting more of an emphasis on their offense before Saturday’s game.

“We worked a lot on our offensive strategy [Thursday] in order to prepare for Fontbonne,” Kehoe said.  “Our defense has been doing a pretty good job this year, and the offense has been kind of hanging them out to dry and not producing enough.”

Regardless of how the team practices on Friday, Genord feels extremely confident going into the game on Saturday.  When asked what he knew about Fontbonne, Genord’s response was brief.

“They’re from Missouri, and we’re about to win.”
