Fast Start — Albion Track begins season on a high note

Albion College track began its season last weekend at the Raven Invitational at Anderson University in Indiana.

The Britons performed well in the meet, with Amanda Weaver, Marshall junior, breaking her own school record in the 3000 meters. Amanda Miley, Redford junior, came second in the same event.

Albion had other notable individual performances, including the Men’s 3000, where the top three finishers were Britons, including a win by Dylan Danowski, Highland first-year.

Despite the strong performance, Coach Lance Coleman acknowledged that his runners may struggle early in the season. Still, he is optimistic for the upcoming weeks.

“With our academic calendar as it is, it is difficult to have our student-athletes totally prepared to compete at the same level early as they do later in the season,” Coleman said.

Albion continues its season this Friday at the Trine Invitational, their first glance at MIAA competition.

“We’re looking for a continuation of the competitive attitude we saw Saturday,” Coleman said.
