Many Albion College athletic teams will be competing this weekend. Here’s a preview of what to expect from the Britons.
Football
The Britons (5-3, 5-0 MIAA) head to Greencastle, Ind. Nov. 5 to face Depauw University. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
After clinching a share of the MIAA championship last weekend, Albion will look to carry some of that momentum into this non-conference tilt. The Tigers sport an average 3-4 record, but are riding a two game win streak.
Depauw’s run defense should provide a tough test for Albion running back Clinton Orr, Buchanan junior. The Tigers allow just 94.9 yards rushing per game, and have given up over 100 yards on the ground just twice this season. Orr is on a tear as of late, averaging 176.3 yards rushing his last three games.
Swimming and Diving
Albion will clash with the Kalamazoo College Hornets in the program’s first dual-meet of the season on Nov. 5. The meet begins at 1:00 p.m.
On the men’s side, Kalamazoo is coming off of a successful season after finishing 1st at the MIAA Championship meet. Albion placed 5th at the meet. The Hornets defeated Albion 184-100 last season.
The Hornets return All-MIAA swimmers Chris Manning and Kevin Lodewyk. They won their first meet of the season versus Wabash College, Ind., 194-106. The Britons were defeated by Olivet College, Hope College, and Carthage College, Wisc., in a Quad meet last weekend.
The Briton’s women’s squad will also participate in the dual-meet at Kalamazoo College.
This could be a close match-up, after the Hornets and Britons finished 3rd and 4th respectively at last season’s MIAA Championship meet. Kalamazoo defeated Albion last year 153.5-134.5.
