On April 23, Albion College students will be bouncing off the walls to “Bouncing off the Walls.”
Sugarcult will headline this year’s April 23 Big Show, Union Board announced tonight. Formed in 1999 in Santa Barbara, Cali, the band’s hit singles include “Memory,” “Pretty Girl” and “Bouncing off the Walls.”
Sugarcult was chosen after Union Board polled students last fall about the which genre was preferred for the act. Alternative rock placed first, and rap/hip-hop placed second. Other genres included pop and country.
According to Cassie Labadie, Tecumseh junior, an opener for the show has not been booked yet, but Union Board hopes to secure a hip-hop artist who would complement Sugarcult. This desire comes from the small difference between first and second place in the poll that was conducted during the fall.
“There’s a lot of different people on Union Board, but you don’t have the entire campus’s perspective,” Labadie said. “In the past some people (students) said there has been a lot of rock, but as our poll showed, rock is still number one. We want to listen to what the majority of campus said.”
